Video Toolbox Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 3, 2026
Thank you for using Video Toolbox. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains how the app handles information related to you.
Please read this policy before using the app. By using the app, you acknowledge that you have read and understood it.
In short
- No personal information is collected; no account or sign-in is required
- Videos are processed entirely on your phone and are never uploaded to our servers
- The app has no internet permission
- The app can only read videos that you pick in the system photo picker
- Results are saved to the "Video Toolbox" folders inside Movies, Music and Pictures on your phone
- No advertising, analytics or crash-reporting SDKs
1. Information we collect
Video Toolbox lets you trim, compress, convert to GIF, extract audio, remove sound, rotate and flip, change speed, merge videos and save frames as photos.
We do not collect any personally identifiable information, nor do we collect device identifiers, location, contacts or usage data. The app has no account system; all features work without signing in.
The app does not request the internet permission. It is technically unable to send your videos or any other data to our servers, and we have no access to your videos.
2. Reading and processing videos
You choose the videos to work on in the system photo picker (or the system file picker on some phones). The app can only read the videos you choose; it cannot browse your gallery or other files.
Decoding, encoding, trimming and merging all happen on your phone using Android's built-in media codecs. Temporary files created during processing are kept in the app's cache folder and deleted once the result is saved or when the next job starts.
3. Saving results
Results are saved to your phone's shared media folders: videos to Movies/Video Toolbox, audio to Music/Video Toolbox, and GIFs and photos to Pictures/Video Toolbox. These files belong to you and are not removed when you uninstall the app; you can view, move or delete them in your gallery or file manager.
The app remembers your recent exports on the home screen (file name, type, size and export time) so you can open or share them again. You can remove an item from the list or delete the file at any time. This list and the app settings are kept in the app's private storage and may be included in the Android system backup to your own Google account (depending on your backup settings). We have no access to those backups.
4. Permissions
The app does not request internet, camera, microphone, location or contacts permissions.
Only on phones running Android 9 or earlier, the app asks for the storage permission so it can save results to the shared folders above. Android 10 and later do not need this permission.
Notifications: while a video is being processed, the app shows its progress and a Cancel button in a notification, and tells you when the result is ready. If you deny this permission, processing still works; you just will not see these notifications.
Foreground service and keeping the device awake: used only while a video is being processed, so the work continues when you switch to another app or lock the screen. They stop as soon as processing finishes or is cancelled.
5. Sharing and opening files
A file is passed to another app only when you tap Share or Open and choose that app in the system share sheet or app chooser. That app handles the data under its own privacy policy.
6. Third-party services
The app uses Google's open-source AndroidX Media3 libraries to process and play videos on the device. These libraries do not connect to the internet or collect any data. The app does not include any advertising, analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
The app is distributed through Google Play. Depending on your device settings, Google may collect diagnostic information such as installs and crashes, which is governed by the Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).
7. Children's privacy
The app is not directed at children under 13, and it does not collect personal information from any user, including children.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app, the law or our operations change. The updated policy will be published on this page with a new effective date. If a new version materially changes how data is handled, we will notify you prominently in the app.
9. Contact us
If you have any questions or requests about this policy or your privacy, please contact us at [email protected].
