Privacy Policy
Text Editor Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 2, 2026
Thank you for using Text Editor. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains how the app handles information related to you.
Please read this policy before using the app. By using the app, you acknowledge that you have read and understood it.
In short
- No personal information is collected; no account or sign-in is required
- Your documents stay on your device and are never uploaded to our servers
- The app requests no permissions at all, including internet access
- The app can only read or save files that you pick in the system file picker
- No advertising, analytics or crash-reporting SDKs
1. Information we collect
Text Editor is a tool for writing Markdown and plain text. You can create notes, open and edit text files on your phone, preview Markdown, find and replace, export to HTML, and print or save as PDF through the system print service.
We do not collect any personally identifiable information, nor do we collect device identifiers, location, contacts or usage data. The app has no account system; all features work without signing in.
The app does not request the internet permission. It is technically unable to send your documents or any other data to our servers, and we have no access to your documents. Web images referenced in Markdown are not loaded in the preview.
2. Storing documents
Documents you create in the app are stored in the app's private storage. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data in system settings deletes them.
These documents and the app settings are included in the Android system backup to your own Google account (depending on your backup settings), so they can be restored on a new phone or after reinstalling. We have no access to those backups.
Files you open through the system file picker stay where they are. The app only reads and writes the file you picked and remembers it on the home screen so you can open it again. You can remove it from the list at any time, and the app then gives up its access to that file.
3. Permissions
The app does not request any system permissions, including internet, storage, camera, microphone, location or contacts.
Files on your phone are accessed through Android's Storage Access Framework: the app can only access files that you explicitly choose in the system file picker.
4. Sharing, exporting and printing
Text or files are passed to another app only when you tap Share and choose that app in the system share sheet. When you export HTML or save a copy, the file is saved to the location you choose in the system file picker. When you print, the content is handed to the system print service, where you choose a printer or save as PDF. Those apps and services handle the data under their own privacy policies.
When another app shares text or a file with this app, the shared content is saved as a document in this app or opened directly in the editor.
5. Third-party services
The app does not include any advertising, analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
The app is distributed through Google Play. Depending on your device settings, Google may collect diagnostic information such as installs and crashes, which is governed by the Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).
6. Children's privacy
The app is not directed at children under 13, and it does not collect personal information from any user, including children.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app, the law or our operations change. The updated policy will be published on this page with a new effective date. If a new version materially changes how data is handled, we will notify you prominently in the app.
8. Contact us
If you have any questions or requests about this policy or your privacy, please contact us at [email protected].
